With the role of pharmacists continuing to grow, this new Oral Contraceptives Course complements pharmacists’ journey to upskill and train towards an extended scope of practice.

Victoria

The course provides training to support the continued supply of select oral contraception and fulfils the requirements set out by the Secretary Approval: Community Pharmacist State-wide Pilot. 

The Victorian Community Pharmacist State-wide Pilot allows eligible women to receive continued supply of select oral contraception from appropriately trained, participating pharmacists. Women must be aged from 16 to 50 years (inclusive) and have been prescribed the pill for contraceptive purposes in the last two years by a doctor (GP) or nurse practitioner.

New South Wales

Whilst this course is required for pharmacists participating in the NSW Pharmacy Trial, pharmacists across Australia can enrol and complete the course in line with the state/territory legislation where they practise. 

The NSW Pharmacy Trial allows eligible women to receive resupply of their low-risk oral contraceptive pill from appropriately trained, participating pharmacists. Women must be aged from 18 to 35 years (inclusive) and have been prescribed the pill for contraceptive purposes in the last two years by a doctor (GP) or nurse practitioner.
